National Research Center on Pomegranate, Solapur, established in 2005, is India’s premier institute dedicated exclusively to pomegranate research under the approval of ICAR. Situated 12 km from Solapur city on the Solapur‑Pune highway, the center has gained national recognition for its pioneering research, commercialization of superior pomegranate hybrids, and innovations in value‑added products. With accolades such as the Vasantrao Naik Award and ISO‑9001:2015 certification, NRCP continues to strengthen India’s agricultural research landscape. The institute provides a vibrant academic environment with modern laboratories, classrooms equipped with AV aids, a seed processing pilot plant, and meteorological units. NRCP actively supports training programs, internships with Farmer Producer Organizations, and Ph.D. scholars through ICAR fellowships. Its faculty of 25 members, combined with a library housing 1,558 books and 17 journals, ensures robust guidance and academic mentorship for researchers and trainees. Campus life at NRCP is designed to foster both learning and well‑being. The 43‑bed residential training centre accommodates students and researchers, while facilities include a medical centre, library, cafeteria, auditorium, sports amenities, and fully equipped computer laboratories. The expansive campus features experimental farms, lift‑irrigation systems, and four advanced water‑harvesting units, offering hands-on research opportunities in a serene, well-supported environment. Though traditional campus placements do not apply, NRCP’s contributions to agriculture and industry are far-reaching, impacting over 50,000 stakeholders through patents, international collaborations, mobile apps with 20,000+ downloads, and 178 training events.
