The University of Delhi, commonly known as Delhi University (DU), established in 1922 is a premier public central university located in New Delhi, India. It was founded by the British Indian Government's Central Legislative Assembly, initially affiliating three existing colleges: St. Stephen's College, Hindu College, and Ramjas College. At its inception, DU had approximately 750 students and two faculties—Arts and Science. Over the years, DU has expanded significantly and is now one of India's largest universities. It comprises 16 faculties, over 80 academic departments, and more than 90 affiliated colleges spread across the city. The university offers a diverse range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs across various disciplines. DU operates primarily through two main campuses.
