Established in 2011, the State Institute of Film and Television (SIFT) is a premier institution located in Rohtak, Haryana, dedicated to nurturing talent in the fields of film and television. Initially operating under the Government Technical Institutions Society, SIFT became an integral part of the Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLCSUPVA) in 2014, following the integration of four government technical institutions. SIFT offers comprehensive four-year Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) programs across five specialized disciplines: Acting, focuses on developing performance skills for stage and screen; Cinematography, centers on the art of visual storytelling through camera work; Direction, emphasizes the creative and managerial aspects of film direction; Editing, teaches the technical and narrative techniques of post-production; Sound Recording and Sound Design, explores the intricacies of audio production and design. Each program admits 15 students per batch, ensuring personalized attention and a focused learning environment. Prospective students must have completed their 10+2 education with a minimum aggregate of 50% or hold a three-year diploma recognized by the AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education. The selection process includes a written test followed by a skill test to assess the candidates' aptitude and potential in their chosen field.
