Established in 1964 by the philanthropist and legal luminary Shri Ram Lal Anand, Ram Lal Anand College (RLA) is a constituent college of the University of Delhi, situated in the South Campus on Benito Juarez Marg, New Delhi. Since 1973, it has been fully maintained by the University of Delhi, offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs across various disciplines.
RLA College offers a diverse range of courses, including Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in English, Hindi, Political Science, History, and Hindi Patrakarita & Mass Communication; Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) and B.Com Programme; Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Computer Science, Geology, Microbiology, Statistics, and Mathematics; Bachelor of Management Studies (B.M.S); and a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Hindi.
The college campus is equipped with modern facilities to support both academic and extracurricular activities. It features a seminar hall, an amphitheater with a seating capacity of over 200, a well-equipped computer lab, and a library housing over 100,000 books and e-books. The campus also includes amenities such as a canteen serving hygienic food, a sports ground for various athletic events, and provisions for differently-abled individuals, including ramps and accessible washrooms.
RLA College emphasizes holistic development by encouraging student participation in sports, cultural activities, debates, seminars, and societies. The college maintains active units of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) under the 7 Delhi Battalion Unit, and the National Service Scheme (NSS), providing students with opportunities to engage in community service and leadership development.
In 2014, Ram Lal Anand College (Evening) transitioned into a separate entity known as Aryabhatta College, leading to an expansion of facilities and resources for both institutions. Under the leadership of Principal Professor Rakesh Kumar Gupta, RLA College continues to uphold its mission of providing quality education and fostering an environment conducive to academic excellence and personal growth.
