Kumari Vidyavati Anand DAV College for Women, established in 1957, holds the distinction of being the first women's college in Haryana. Founded by a group of Arya Samajis led by Lal Makhan Lal Ji, Dr. Ganesh Das Ji, and Principal Mela Ram Ji Barq, the college began with 100 students, 4 lecturers, and 4 non-teaching staff members. Today, it has grown to approximately 1,805 students, 93 lecturers, and 37 non-teaching staff.
Inspired by Swami Dayanand Saraswati's vision of empowering women through education, the college aims to provide an environment of excellence with humane values and social commitment. Its mission focuses on enabling women to become efficient, uphold valuable culture, and serve society effectively.
The college offers a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across various disciplines, including: Bachelor of Arts (B.A), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in subjects like Fashion Design, Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Vocational Studies (B.Voc.), Master of Arts (M.A) in English, Master of Science (M.Sc), and Master of Commerce (M.Com).
The college has been reaccredited with a Grade 'A' by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in its second cycle in 2016. It was also declared a Model College and Pace-setting Women's College by the National Institute of Education Planning and Administration in 1992.
Spanning an institutional area of 3.5 acres, the college provides various facilities to support academic and extracurricular activities. Well-equipped science labs with necessary instruments and apparatus. Library with approximately 56,000 books, 30 magazines, 20 journals, and 11 newspapers. Features include a reference room with an open shelf system, Wi-Fi computer networking, a reading room with a capacity of 150 readers, and a book bank facility. The library also offers resources for various service exams and has photocopying facilities. Hostel facilities are available for students. The campus includes an auditorium, canteen, computer labs, gym, sports facilities, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
