Established in September 2002 with assistance from the Distance Education Council, the Centre for Distance and Open Education (CDOE) at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) aims to provide higher education opportunities to individuals unable to benefit from conventional educational systems. The CDOE offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Undergraduate programs include Bachelor of Arts (General) (B.A.), Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.), and Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com). And postgraduate programs include Master of Arts (Education) (M.A. Education), Master of Arts (Human Resource Management) (M.A. HRM), Master of Arts (Islamic Studies) (M.A. Islamic Studies), Master of Arts (Political Science) (M.A. Political Science), Master of Arts (Public Administration) (M.A. Public Administration), Master of Arts (Urdu) (M.A. Urdu), and Master of Commerce (M.Com). The CDOE also offers a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) program, catering to aspiring educators. The programs are designed to be flexible and accessible, utilizing self-learning study materials and counseling sessions to support students. The CDOE's programs are approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Distance Education Bureau (DEB), ensuring adherence to quality standards in distance education. The CDOE has established learner support centers across various Indian states, including Bihar, Assam, Haryana, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and the Delhi NCR region, to facilitate student learning and support.
