Introduction and Vision of the Founder

Banaras Hindu University (BHU), formerly known as Central Hindu College, is a globally reputed public central university situated in the sacred city of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. BHU is organized into 6 specialized institutes, 14 faculties, and 140-plus academic departments. These include the world-famous Institute of Technology (IIT BHU), the Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS BHU), the Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAS BHU), and the Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development. The university offers a vast array of programs ranging from Sanskrit and Vedic studies to biotechnology, nano-technology, space physics, and fine arts. Admission Process, Diversity, and Counseling

Admissions to Banaras Hindu University are highly competitive, drawing lakhs of applicants every year. Since 2022, BHU has integrated its admission system with the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) courses. Following the declaration of CUET scores, candidates must register on the BHU Admission Portal to participate in the online counseling process. Seats are allocated based on merit, candidate preferences, and category reservations.
