Established in 1961 by Dr. (Mrs.) S. Malhan, the Institute of Home Economics (IHE) is a premier women's college affiliated with the University of Delhi. Located in the Hauz Khas Enclave of New Delhi, the institute has evolved into a leading center for women's education in India, offering a diverse range of undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and doctoral programs.
Undergraduate courses offered are B.Sc. (Honors) Home Science, B.Sc. (Pass) Home Science, B.A. (Honors) Journalism, B.Sc. (Honors) Food Technology, B.El.Ed. (Bachelor of Elementary Education), B.Sc. (Honors) Microbiology, & B.Sc. (Honors) Biochemistry. Postgraduate courses include M.Sc. Fabric and Apparel Sciences, & M.Sc. Foods and Nutrition. Diploma programs include Diploma in Dietetics and Public Health Nutrition, & Diploma in Health and Social Gerontology. Short-term courses offered are Nutrition for Health, Sports, and Fitness, Early Childhood Care and Education, Management of Individual and Emotional Well-being, Event Management, AUTOCAD & Interior Designing, Radio Jockeying, & Computer-Aided Designing. Doctoral program include Ph.D. in Home Science.
