Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences (IGIPESS) is a premier co-educational institution established on August 3, 1987, by the Delhi Administration under the auspices of the University of Delhi. Named in honor of the late Mrs. Indira Gandhi, the first female Prime Minister of India, the institute is dedicated to advancing physical education and sports sciences.
IGIPESS offers a comprehensive range of programs, including: B.Sc. in Physical Education, Health Education, and Sports, a three-year undergraduate degree initiated at the institute's inception in 1987; Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed.), a one-year program designed to prepare students for careers in physical education teaching and sports coaching; Master of Physical Education (M.P.Ed.), a two-year postgraduate course aimed at providing advanced knowledge and research opportunities in physical education and sports sciences.
The institute is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), ensuring adherence to high academic and professional standards.
Located in B-Block, Vikaspuri, New Delhi -110018, IGIPESS boasts a vibrant campus life with a wide range of opportunities to fill students' free time.
