Ayurvedic and Unani Tibbia College (A&U Tibbia College), located in Karol Bagh, New Delhi, is a premier institution dedicated to the study and practice of Ayurvedic and Unani medicine. Established in 1883 by Hakeem Abdul Majeed Khan Sahib as 'Madrasa e Tibia', the institution has evolved significantly over the years. It was formally inaugurated on 23 July 1889 by the then Deputy Commissioner of Delhi, Shri R. Clarke. The college is affiliated with the University of Delhi and is recognized by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM). A&U Tibbia College offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs: Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), undergraduate program focusing on Ayurvedic medicine; Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS), undergraduate program specializing in Unani medicine; Doctor of Medicine (MD), postgraduate degrees in various specialties within Ayurvedic and Unani streams. Spanning 33.5 acres, the urban campus includes academic buildings, laboratories, a hospital, pharmacies, hostels, and staff quarters. The institution also maintains a herbal garden, enhancing both educational and therapeutic experiences. The foundation stone of the current campus was laid by Lord Hardinge, the then Viceroy of India, on 29 March 1916. The college was later inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi on 13 February 1921. Through its longstanding commitment to traditional medicine systems, Ayurvedic and Unani Tibbia College continues to play a pivotal role in healthcare education and services in India.
